Brad J. Congelio

bradbioDr. Brad Congelio is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Sport Leadership and Management graduate program at Keystone College in Factoryville, Pennsylvania (the bucolic boyhood home of Christy Mathewson!).  In 2014, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario while studying out of the International Centre for Olympic Studies.  His dissertation, titled “Before The World Was Quiet: Ronald Reagan, Cold War Foreign Policy, and the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Summer Games,” was awarded the 2013 Ian Buchanan Memorial Scholarship from the International Society of Olympic Historians.

His research studies the impact of the Olympic Movement on American bid cities, including their long-term campaigns and the policy approaches of each bid committee.  In this line of research, he aims to explore how American Olympic bid cities tailor their campaigns to target broader societal, cultural, and foreign policy issues and to examine the development, implementation, successes, failures, and public reception of each campaign.
