Stephen Townsend

Stephen is a PhD student from the University of Queensland in Australia. His current research is concerned with ‘doing’ sport history in the digital age. He is specifically interested in how sport historians might navigate through the challenges posed by digitised newspapers, social media and Wikipedia. He is currently exploring these issues via an analysis of how Muhammad Ali is represented on these platforms. More generally, he is fascinated by all contemporary and historical dimensions of sport, particularly alternative sports.
